xStreme – Live and On Demand media transcoder: Go Back
The media transcoder (xSTREAME) is a proprietary fully scalable real-time transcoder solution developed by CMI in CAMMP. It uses the open source library x264 for transcoding video to H.264 and the Nero HE-AAC solution for audio. It is very stable and better than any similar reference transcoder solution on the market that we know of. xSTREAME is currently responsible for live transcoding of the Danish DVB-T TV and DAB radio signal in a public test along with pulling on demand clips from Danish broadcaster DR and transcode these to proper settings.
It solves the problem of providing video in the right format to the right device. iPhone/iPad operating systems uses one kind of technology, while Android uses another etc. The question of providing video content in various qualities depending on the network QoS and screen size of the actual devices is also solvable using xSTREAME.
